Bergen General Cemetery
Bergen General Cemetery contains a plot of 260 Commonwealth graves of the Second World War, of which 35 unidentified. The majority of the graves are from Allied crew members. Seven crew members of 617 Squadron are buried in this cemetery.
 
The propeller blade is from Lancaster ED715 / GT-J 156 Squadron, the Lancaster crashed on 5 May 1943 at Chatteris, Cambridgeshire (UK), all crew members survived the crash. The propeller blade is presented to the Bergen War Grave Committee jointly by the Fenland Aircraft Preservation Society and the 617 Squadron RAF veterans for the care given to the graves of their former comrades. The unveiling took place on the 3 May 1980.
The cemetery is north- west of the N9 (Alkmaar - Den Helder). From the direction of Alkmaar (N9) to Bergen cemetery is about 2.9 miles, when entering Bergen the cemetery is signposted. The World War II Commonwealth plot is located to the right of the information centre.
